HO SCALE KITS
COMPANY HOUSE #1
GS-18-1

This house is based on houses used by the Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company (TCI) in Alabama.  TCI later became part of US Steel.  These houses were referred to as a “square top”.  They were a simple 4 room plan with running water on the back porch, and a privy in the back yard.  The square house is one of two designs the company built, the other being a two room shotgun style house.  Those have been identified as for the black workers.  These houses were built in Bessemer and other cities around the Birmingham area.  Many of these houses are still in use today only modernized.
This kit makes a wonderful company dwelling for any mining, timber, or even mill community.
N&W
SECTION FOREMAN'S HOUSE
This house is based on a Section Foreman's House from the Winston-Salem Southbound in the Carolinas.  This kit was unveiled at the N&W Historical Society Convention in Spencer, NC in May 2018.
CLIFFTOP WV DOUBLE HOUSE
MC-16-1

This double house, or duplex, is based on double houses used in Cliff Top, WV.  Cliff Top was a coaling town which shipped coal to Sewell along the New River by means of the Mann’s Creak Railway, a narrow gauge steam railroad.  These houses were originally built in Ledonia and Birdeye.  As these two mining towns were shut down, the houses were taken down board-by-board and moved to Cliff Top and Sewell with additions to the original house.  Later the ones in Sewell were also moved to Cliff Top.  Miners from Ledonia and Birdeye moved to Cliff Top to operate the coal mine there and reoccupy these homes.  There were a total of about 30 of these double houses in Cliff Top.  The prototype was built using all board and batten walls, but to show what the addition was, and to add a little variety, we have made this kit with clapboard siding and used board and batten for the additions.  This kit makes a wonderful duplex for any mining, timber, or even mill community.
STORAGE SHED
GS-16-1

This storage shed is typical of sheds found in back yards as well as businesses which need outside storage.

BABCOCK COAL & COKE TIPPLE
MC-17-1

Southern Heritage Models is pleased to offer this HO Scale kit of the Babcock Coal & Coke Company tipple.  This tipple was built in 1926 by the Kanawha Manufacturing Company in Sewell, WV. Sewell was located on the New River, along the C&O Railway main line between Thurmond and Fayette.  Sewell served as a junction point between the Manns Creek Railway, a 3’ narrow gauge railroad which brought coal down the mountain from Clifftop and lumber from Landisburg, Between the tipple and the river there were 193 coke ovens that were in operation until 1956.  The town lasted about a decade and a half after the ovens shut down, and the last resident moved out in 1973.

This kit has a footprint of about 8” X 14”.  This kit contains 620 laser-cut parts, 32 3D printed parts, and 240 Tichy NBWs (Nut-Bolt-Washers).  This is a limited edition series.  There will only be 250 of these made and each kit is numbered with a Certificate of Authenticity.
